The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of more than 2 million donuts across 60 varieties due to potential listeria contamination. The recall, which affects both the U.S. and Canada, was initiated as a precautionary measure after “non-product related findings” at a U.S. donut-making facility raised concerns.
FGF Brands, the company behind the recall, clarified that no donuts or food contact surfaces ever tested positive for listeria. Despite the recall, the company assured consumers that all affected products are no longer in circulation and that all donuts are completely safe to eat.
While the recall covered various baked goods, such as French crullers and apple fritters, only donuts were impacted in the U.S. The company emphasized that the recall was a precaution and that the products on the market at the time of the announcement were safe to consume.
