FGF Brands has voluntarily recalled 60 donut products, affecting over 2 million pastries sold across the United States and Canada.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated on January 7 due to concerns about potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes. However, FGF Brands clarified that the recall was a precautionary measure and does not affect any products currently on the market.
An FGF spokesperson emphasized that “all donuts are completely safe to eat,” and that the recall was based on findings unrelated to the actual products. The company also stated that no donuts or food contact surfaces tested positive for listeria.
On February 5, the FDA classified the recall as Class II, meaning the products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” but the likelihood of serious health risks is low.
