Shipley Do-Nuts, one of the nation’s largest donut and kolache brands, has opened its first location in North Carolina at 31 Optical Ct. NW in Concord, just north of Charlotte.
Founded in 1936 in Houston, Shipley offers over 60 varieties of fresh donuts, handmade daily. Its menu includes the iconic hexagon-shaped plain glazed donuts, along with filled, iced, and cake donuts, bear claws, coffee, and more.
Known for its kolaches (savory pastries with baked-in fillings), Shipley also serves popular varieties like Bacon, Egg & Cheese, Ham & Cheese, and Sausage, Jalapeno & Cheese.
Locally owned by husband-and-wife team John and Lillian Brijeski, the new Concord shop offers a “Hot Glazed Donut Guarantee” from 5-11 a.m. daily, promising guests warm, melt-in-your-mouth glazed donuts during these hours.
“We are confident Shipley’s sweet and savory options will be a big hit with our community,” said Lillian Brijeski. “We’re excited to offer a menu that satisfies breakfast and snack-time cravings.”
Shipley has ambitious plans for expansion in North Carolina, with five additional Charlotte-area locations in development. The brand is seeking franchisees in cities like Raleigh-Durham, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, with discovery days scheduled in Raleigh and Charlotte on April 22 and 24.
“Our expansion into North Carolina is a key step in our growth,” said Shipley Do-Nuts CEO Flynn Dekker. “This opening brings our presence to 13 states, and we’re excited to introduce Shipley to new customers in the Tar Heel State.”
