Voodoo Doughnuts, a beloved donut chain from the Pacific Northwest, is set to open a new location in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood on December 10.
Chris Schultz, CEO of Voodoo Doughnut, shared his excitement in a press release, saying, “We’re thrilled to finally bring some Voodoo Magic to Seattle. It’s been many years in the making, and the Capitol Hill neighborhood is the perfect spot for our first Seattle store.”
The Capitol Hill store has been in development for over a year, with plans initially announced in October 2023. It will be located at 1201 Pine Street, near Cal Anderson Park. The space was previously occupied by Lan Hand-Pulled Noodles and Pho 4 U.
To mark the grand opening, Voodoo Doughnuts will donate 20% of the first day’s sales to the FareStart nonprofit. The first 50 customers in line will also receive an exclusive gift.
Capitol Hill is already home to several popular donut shops, including Top Pot Donuts, Mighty-O, and Donut Joy, which offer vegan options. Other local donut spots include General Porpoise, Raised Doughnuts, George’s Delicatessen, and Half and Half Doughnut Co.
“We’ve been looking for the perfect spot in Seattle for years,” Schultz said in an interview with KIRO Newsradio. “We’re excited to hire 75 people and contribute to the community.”
Voodoo Doughnuts, which has locations across nine states, is continuing its expansion. The Capitol Hill location will be its second in Washington, following the opening of a Vancouver store in 2022. The chain also operates in Oregon, California, Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, Colorado, and Florida.
The new Capitol Hill store will be open 24 hours a day, offering Voodoo’s signature treats to Seattle residents around the clock.
