Fans of DK Donuts can breathe a sigh of relief—the beloved donut shop will not be closing after all. In recent months, rumors of its closure had caused concern, but the situation has now been clarified.
Vimean Rath, daughter of DK Donuts owner Angkearot Long, confirmed that the business has signed a multi-year lease with the new owner of the building on State Street. Rath, who will manage the upcoming Nampa location, shared that renovations are set to begin soon.
The past year has been a rollercoaster for DK Donuts. Rumors started circulating in the spring about a possible closure and relocation to Nampa. BoiseDev made several attempts to confirm the details, but Long was unavailable as he was in Cambodia at the time. In June, however, Long clarified that the State Street location would not close, and the Nampa site was planned as an expansion.
In October, DK Donuts made another announcement stating it would close for good, citing demands from the landlord for costly building upgrades, including new heating and air systems, as well as parking lot repairs. However, the business has since reversed its decision, opting to stay open under the new lease agreement.
Long remains out of the country and could not be reached for further comment.
