NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — A routine theft call at Walmart turned into a drug arrest when officers discovered fentanyl and methamphetamine on a man who had stolen a donut, according to the Mt. Juliet Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious individual at the Walmart store, where they found a 44-year-old man from Nashville. During the arrest, authorities discovered a significant amount of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine in his possession.
With assistance from Walmart staff, police were able to safely take the man into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Wilson County Jail.
“This arrest highlights how theft incidents can sometimes uncover more serious crimes, such as the presence of dangerous drugs,” the Mt. Juliet Police Department said in a statement. “We are grateful to our officers and our partners at Walmart for their vigilance in keeping Mt. Juliet safe.”
