In September, The Donut Whole’s latest owners announced on social media that they were temporarily closing the shop at 1720 E. Douglas. Now, it’s confirmed that the popular establishment won’t be reopening. The space, known for its iconic rooster statue named Ed perched on the roof, is officially up for lease.
Michael Moeder of Moeder & Associates has listed the property and recently placed “for lease” signs in the windows. Initially, the shop’s operators hadn’t shared long-term plans after shutting down last month, but they handed over the keys last week. The building’s owner, Rhandalee Hinman, is now seeking a new tenant, and Moeder notes that the space is well-suited for a food business. The location includes 3,000 square feet, a 20-foot hood—a costly but valuable feature for restaurant startups—and a drive-through window, a rare perk in this part of town.
